Winter Clothing Order

November 2nd, 2008

It is time for our winter clothing order!

We will be going with Voler again this year, and our most recent summer order with them
came out great.

Order online at http://mcycling.org/order.php

Please note that there are separate order forms dues paying members and non-members.

All orders are due on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 .  The clothing will arrive late in January (and yes, it will be on time since we are not working with Nalini).

Sizing can be found at voler.com.

Illinois Race Recap

September 8th, 2008

Saturday’s XC race was held in Kickapoo State Park. The technical course, made slick by the remnants of hurricane Gustav, challenged even the most experienced riders. Twisted ankles and broken hands were not uncommon. At the end of the day Michigan prevailed and got some nice results. Notables include a 1,2,3 finish in the Men’s C/D race by Al (annihilating the field), Alex, and Zachariah. Lizzie rode a fantastic race to take 3rd in the women’s race. Nick and Brendan both had solid races finishing 4th and 7th respectively in the Men’s A race.

Sunday was the short track race, a muddy affair. With only 5 riders racing Michigan was still able to put together a solid showing. Notables include a 2,5,7 finish by myself, Mike Kent (his first time racing MTB), and Zachariah. Matt Kramer had a great ride and took 3rd in the Men’s B race.

Fall 2008 Mass Meeting Recap

September 8th, 2008

There are two files from the mass meeting:

The main talking points from the meeting were:

  • We have group rides every day, and anyone can join them - check out the riding schedule on the training page at www.mcycling.org/training.php
  • Other rides are on the e-mail list.  (The e-mail list is the club’s main form of communication).
  • If you’re interested in racing MTB, act now because the season is starting to pick up.  E-mail Mike Dodd (doddm@umich.edu) to let him know you want to race the Michigan State races this weekend.
  • The road season starts in the Spring and the schedule will be posted on mwccc.org when it becomes available (February).
  • We go to Helen, Georgia for Spring Break.  There are 24 spots available for the trip this year, with priority going to those who plan on racing during the road season.
  • Cycling is a beginner-friendly sport.  Almost nobody has raced before coming to college.  Collegiate cycling is geared toward novice riders.  If you’ve never raced before, now is the time to consider it.

Fall 2008 Mass Meeting

September 2nd, 2008

Our first mass meeting of the semester will be held September 8th at 7:00PM in one of the Angell Hall Auditoriums.  If all the auditoriums are occupied, we will move it to the second level of Mason Hall and post signs at the auditoriums.

See you there!
